From nineteen people to a sixty-year legacy.
God has been faithful to Grace Point since 1957. Here's a look at where we've come from.
Where it began.
In the spring of 1957, the Conservative Baptists decided to sponsor a new church. A survey led by twenty students from what is now Western Seminary chose Tigard, and the first service was held on September 24, 1957 at the Metzger Recreational Club House—nineteen people in attendance.
Within a few years the congregation purchased the Gaarde Street site we still call home and remodeled a farmhouse into a parsonage and meeting place.

Original sanctuary ("Boldt Hall") built; today it serves as our Youth Center.
A new sanctuary built in six months with the help of Craftsmen for Christ.
New building dedicated, alongside a belated 40th-anniversary celebration.
Still pursuing the mission.
Through the faithful leadership of many pastors and the help of Craftsmen for Christ, the church grew and expanded—adding ministry space for children and the wider community.
Having celebrated our 60th anniversary, we continue to seek God's wisdom and provision to meet ever-growing ministry opportunities here in the southwest region and around the world.
